How do plants get water and minerals?
you know that plants get water and mineral materials through their roots. The large roots that you see when you pull up a plant are the conductors of water and minerals but the cells in these large roots have thick walls and are waterproof. This large roots are too thick to absorb liquids from the soil. They can carry the liquids up to the stem but they cannot absorb them from the soil. Most plants also have tiny-walled growths called root hairs these root hairs absorb the most water.Root hairs grow near the tips of the smaller roots, they are hundreds of these thin hair on an inch of root. They absorb water and dissolved minerals through their thin walls from there the water and dissolved minerals flow into the smaller roots and into the large roots, and so on up into the stem and leaves.
